Tomorrow I begin teaching art at Channel Islands Art Studios, a former elementary school campus repurposed into a non-profit arts campus, as a credentialed educator for the State of California. I have taught youngsters art many times over the years, but in this instance, need to sketch out plans for the classes, and am excited with what I've come up with. I'm going to first ask (write on board) How To Make Art as one choice, How To Be an Artist, as another, and also Both or Not Sure as two others. Then, instead of handing out materials and going through the rudiments of an objective, we're going to begin with a class project. We're going to vote on the three colors the project will deploy, then set to create a large water-color with various figurations of geometric shapes in oil pastel. In this process we'll discover the properties of the materials used, whole considering the precept that all art of value floats and glows. Pretty excited to see what we come up with.
On Friday there is a somewhat significant political Zoom call to which I've been invited, and in which will detail the political landscape, and based on logic and reason what might be a successful approach to the present situation.
Then the novel. I've gotten lots more solid work done over the past few months and the light at the end of the tunnel is brightening. Still lots of work to do though.
