poem

 (untitled)

When everyone has learned to view you

as the uncaged animal in town—

when everyone knows you

and you don’t know nobody;

when they’ll talk and bond

over your legend for

hours on end while

flinching at the notion

for a visit to see first hand—

where you’re Macbeth’s last fear—

staked to a pole for the zombies

to marvel at.

It’s kind of cool

in a way—takes guts,

but kind of commendable

in such a day and age.
