12x18"

poem

 (untitled)

To be imperious means
to be possessed of command—
subversive to the order
or creator of it;
and to be so
is a facet of nature,
of children in a playground,
a piece in the
apparatus of
making the world
safe for love.

We forgive a child
fearing the dark,
and pity
the adult fleeing light,
the sole
purpose/meaning
of individual existence—
to be true to
what the latest
true there is.

To be imperious means

to be possessed of command—

subversive to the order

or creator of it;

and to be so

is a facet of nature,

of children in a playground,

a piece in the

apparatus of

making the world

safe for love.

We forgive a child

fearing the dark,

and pity

the adult fleeing light,

for that the sole

purpose and meaning

of individual existence—

to be true to

what’s true.
